Tteok-Mandu Gangjeong (Sweet & Spicy Glazed Rice Cakes and Dumplings)
Tteok-mandu gangjeong is a family favorite that works as both a rice side dish and a snack. Crispy pan-fried rice cakes and dumplings tossed in a sweet, tangy, and mildly spicy sauce make a dish the whole family loves.

Ingredients
Main
- Rice cakes (tteok)250g
- Dumplings (mandu)250g
- Oil for fryingas needed
Sauce
- Gochujang1 tbsp
- Minced garlic1/2 tbsp
- Sugar1 tbsp
- Corn syrup3 tbsp
- Ketchup2 tbsp
- Soy sauce1 tbsp
- Sesame seedsas needed
Directions
- 1

If the rice cakes and dumplings are frozen, thaw them in advance and pat off as much moisture as possible (you can microwave-thaw if you're in a hurry). Leftover moisture can cause the oil to splatter.
- 2

Rice cakes take longer to cook, so heat oil in a pan and fry the rice cakes first, then add the dumplings and pan-fry everything together over low heat until golden.
- 3

Mix the gochujang, minced garlic, sugar, corn syrup, ketchup, and soy sauce to make the sauce. This same sauce also works great for chicken gangjeong.
- 4

Add the sauce to the pan-fried rice cakes and dumplings and toss over low heat until everything is evenly coated.
- 5

Finish by sprinkling with sesame seeds, and it's done.
Tips
Dry the rice cakes and dumplings well so the oil doesn't splatter. Cook over low heat so they cook through while turning crisp outside. To make it milder for kids, reduce the gochujang and add a little more ketchup.
