Macaroni Salad
A hearty salad made by tossing boiled macaroni with cucumber, apple, bell pepper, and crab sticks in a mayonnaise dressing. The colorful mix of ingredients makes it as pretty as it is filling — one bowl is a satisfying meal on its own.

Ingredients
Ingredients
- Macaroni1 cup
- Onion1/2
- Crab sticks1
- AppleA pinch
- Cucumber1/3
- Bell pepperA pinch
- Mayonnaise10 tbsp
- Sugar1 tbsp
- Lemon juiceA pinch
Directions
- 1

Feel free to add any vegetables or fruits you like. Plain boiled macaroni tossed in mayonnaise is already tasty, but colorful ingredients make it look even more appetizing.
- 2

Soak the onion briefly in cold water to mellow its sharpness, then drain and pat dry.
- 3

Boil the macaroni in boiling water for 11-12 minutes. For a chewier texture, boil for 11 minutes; for a softer texture, boil a bit longer than 12.
- 4

Finely chop the ingredients that will be tossed with the macaroni and put them in a bowl.
- 5

Drain the cooked macaroni and let it cool slightly.
- 6

Add the slightly cooled macaroni to the other ingredients and season. Add mayonnaise to taste, plus a little sugar for sweetness and a splash of lemon juice for tang.
- 7

With lots of mix-ins, the volume grows more than you'd expect — aim for about one bowl's worth to start.
- 8

Made in a bigger batch, it doubles nicely as a kids' snack or a lunchbox side dish.
